Passing your information on
We may allow other people and organisations to use your information. Why?
To give you the services you’ve asked for, which might include giving information to members of your family, household, anyone acting on your behalf or other people who have an interest (like landlords or letting agents).
We may disclose your personal information to third parties: such as Hitachi Finance, boiler manufacturers to provide warranties, smart heating and Gas Safe.
To transfer any unpaid debt to another organisation – we’ll have to give them details about you and that debt.
For legal or regulatory purposes. We only hold your information for the time legally required.
If you give us information on behalf of someone else, you’re confirming that you’ve given them the information in this policy, and that they’ve agreed for us to use their information.
Certain information about the user, such as IP addresses, navigation throughout our site, the software used, time spent and other similar information, may be stored on our servers in small data pieces known as “cookies,” which may also be written to a User’s computer system. These cookies will not specifically identify the User.
The information will be used internally for web site traffic analysis. However, we assume no responsibility for the security of this information. In addition, we also record your IP address, which is the Internet address of your computer, and information such as your browser type and operating system. This information helps us learn about the geographical distribution of our website visitors and the technology they use to access our site. This information is never connected with the personal information you supply to us if you register on our website.
Most browsers allow you to reject all cookies, whilst some browsers allow you to reject just third party cookies. For example, in Internet Explorer you can refuse all cookies by clicking “Tools”, “Internet Options”, “Privacy”, and selecting “Block all cookies” using the sliding selector. Blocking all cookies will, however, have a negative impact upon the usability of our website.
Security of information
We employ a range of technologies to protect the information maintained on our systems from loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction. We do not share the information we collect with any other organisations, unless required to provide you with a service requested or a legal requirement. We will endeavour to take all reasonable care, in so far as it is possible to do so, to keep all your details secure, but, in the absence of negligence on our part we cannot be held liable for any loss you may suffer if a third party procures unauthorised access to any data you provide when enquiring.
Right to Erasure
You may request that we delete the data we hold, however it is impracticable for us to do so completely due to regulatory requirements and we have many systems where your data will have passed through, such as database backups. In the event that you request your data to be deleted from our systems, please be aware that we will remove your data wherever we can, but we cannot guarantee full erasure of all your data due to legal regulations and type of technologies used it may not be practical, but we do not keep information for longer than legally required.
You’re entitled to have a copy of the information we hold on you and you can have any inaccurate information corrected. We may charge a small fee for providing a copy of any information we hold about you. If you’re interested, talk to our privacy team.
